Valentines

The Home learning is based on the teaching and learning that the children would have been receiving in class, with many of the activities being the same wherever possible. Over the course of the week, we ask that the children complete as many of the home learning tasks as possible. Home learning will be placed on the school website weekly and is for those children who are having to self isolate at home. There will also be homework set weekly, this can be found by clicking on the homework tab.

You can email us at office@dorothybarleyinfant.org.uk if you have any problems or queries.

Valentines class

15.7.21

Next week our book will be Walking through the Jungle. We will be reading the story and encouraging the children to join in with the animal noises and the actions. There is a story on You tube

The vocabulary we will be focussing on is, snake, tiger, elephant, lion, monkey, crocodile. In maths we will be looking at the numbers on clocks and telling the time at o’clock.

In phonics we will be singing action songs and looking at the sound l, blending and hearing words starting with l such as lion.

We will continue to do a sensory and an art activity each day to improve children’s fine motor skills, and help them make choices.

We have been teaching the children some basic Makaton signs such as more, finished, toilet, water, animals and colours.  There are a number of videos on you tube which show basic signs for parents who want to show their children more. This one is very clear.

We have also used some of the singing hands videos which are very good. There are signed versions of favourite stories and songs.

All the Year 2 children are having a Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Monday and need to bring £1 in please as a contribution towards the food.

We would like to thank you all for your support over the last few years. It has been a privilege to work with your lovely children and we will miss them all very much.

Have a lovely summer and we wish the children all the best in their new schools. Please keep in touch and let us know how they are doing.
